GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Swim team took fourth at this year's SAC Championships, while the women ended in fifth. Highlighting the week was
Greg Kisshauer, who set a new school record in the 200 Fly with a time of 1:51.82.
On Friday, Levi McRae swam strong in the 500 yard freestyle, winning the B final with a time of 4:35.70. Not far behind him was
Brooks Higginbotham, taking 12th in 4:45.35. Junior
Katherine Hudson qualified for the B finals of the 100 yard backstroke and nearly broke the one minute barrier, taking 14th in 1:00.05. Both
Christopher Glebus and
Christopher Forsey qualified for the B final of the 100 yard backstroke, taking 10th and 13th respectively.
Devin Poteat flew in the B final of the 100 yard breaststroke, winning the head with a time of 1:06.65.
Carson Cochrane broke the one minute barrier in the 100 yard breaststroke, taking 11th with a time of 59.89.
Greg Kisshauer's record setting performance in the 200 yard butterfly was good enough to net him a sixth place finish in the competition.
The women's 200 yard freestyle relay team, consisting of
Ann-Cathrine Beissel,
Trinity Price,
Cassandra Nichols, and
Katherine Hudson, took fourth with a time of 1:42.65. The men's team also took fourth, as
Renato Herran,
Christopher Forsey,
Greg Kisshauer, and
Christopher Glebus finished in 1:23.80.
On Saturday, Levi McRae took ninth in the 1650 yard freestyle with a time of 16:10.48. This was the longest event in the competition.
Renato Herran continued his strong competition in the 100 yard freestyle, placing third in the B final and 11th overall with a time of 45.43. Junior
Ella Penny qualified for the A final of the 200 yard backstroke and finished in seventh, coming through with a time of 2:07.21.
Christopher Glebus bested his prelim time in the 200 yard backstroke by over two seconds, taking 10th with a time of 1:54.67.
Greg Kisshauer finished the 200 yard breaststroke with the highest place of any Bear at the competition, taking fifth with a 2:03.16, over a second and a half better than his prelim time.
Both the men's and women's relay teams took fourth in the 400 yard freestyle relay, with the women coming through in a 3:38.72 and the men in 3:07.33.
Freshman
Greg Kisshauer was LR's star of the meet, notching two fifth place finishes, a sixth place finish, and a new school record. He also helped lead LR to two third-place finishes in relays.
