GRAND HARBOR, SC - Competing in a field that contained seven of the top-50 teams in DII, the Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Golf team took fourth, finishing with an even-par 864 in the three-round tournament. Extremely consistent, the Bears shot rounds of 288 (E), 289 (+1), and 287 (-1).
Lenoir-Rhyne, ranked #38 in the country, didn't lose to any teams ranked lower than them. Wingate (#16), Grand Valley State (#5), and USC Aiken (#11) took the top three spots. LR did defeat #20 Lander, #50 Ashland, and #49 Anderson.
Posting the best finish for the Bears was
Matthew McDougall, who shot under par in each round and finished in a tie for sixth with a 212 (-4). This marks his second best finish of the season and his third top-10 finish of the year.
Holt Allison, currently ranked #23 in DII, joined McDougall in the top-10, tying for 10th with a three-round tally of 214 (-2). The third finisher for the Bears was
Sean Finan, who has continued to improve all season and sees himself ranked #147 in DII. He shot rounds of 70-75-73 to to tie for 26th with a 218 (+2).
INDIVIDUAL SCORES
The Bears will get a bit of a break next week before they travel to Monroe, North Carolina, on Monday-Tuesday, March 17-18, to take part in the Wingate Ralph Hargett Memorial.
