HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FL - The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Golf team completed their season on Saturday, tying for 12th in the Southeast Regional. This was arguably the toughest regional in the country as 19 of the 20 teams were ranked top-50 nationally. The Bears finished strong, jumping up five spots on day three after shooting a 283 (-5), tied for the third best score of the day.
Overall the Bears shot rounds of 300-293-283 to finish with an overall score of 876 (+12), tying them with Lander for 12th. Winning the tournament was North Georgia, who blew away the field with an 836 (-28), 24 strokes better than second place Wingate. Medalist honors went to North Georgia's Jack Vajda, who finished with a 206 (-10).
For the second straight year,
Sean Finan posted Lenoir-Rhyne's best score at the regional. He tied for 13th after posting scores of 70-74-70 (214, -2). He helped himself by tying for 10th in the field in par-3 scoring, averaging 2.92 (-1) per hole.
Matthew McDougall improved each day, posting scores of 75-71-69 to tie for 19th with 215 (-1). His final round total of 69 was tops for an LR golfer all weekend. Rounding out Lenoir-Rhyne's top-three finishers was senior
Holt Allison, who went 76-73-70 to tie for 39th with a 219 (+3). He excelled on par-5s, tying for first with an average score of 4.33 (-8).Â
