Men's Golf qualifies for second consecutive NCAA Regional

HICKORY, NC - For the first time in school history, the Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Golf team has qualified for back-to-back NCAA Regionals, as announced by the NCAA on Friday. 

"This team is as resilient as they are talented," states Interim Head Coach Justin Hay. "They have overcome adversity all season to put up some incredible performances and scores, and I'm excited to see what they can accomplish down in Florida."

The Bears are in the midst of arguably their most successful season in school history, as they are ranked 25th in Division II and hold a team scoring average of 288.7. They have one win, eight top-five finishes, and nine top-ten finishes in 10 events. They won the Lenoir-Rhyne Fall Invitational and were runners up at the Sherman B. Smith Memorial. 

Local product Holt Allison has been leading the way for the Bears all season, as he has national ranking of #18 and a regional rank of #5. Allison has won two events this year and posted five top-five finishes. He has an adjusted scoring average of 70.6 in 29 rounds of play. Also sitting in the national ranks are Matthew McDougall (#151) and Sean Finan (#169). McDougall has four top-ten finishes with an adjusted scoring average of 72.4 while Finan has three top-ten finishes and also has an adjusted scoring average of 72.4. 

The South Regional will be hosted by Rollins College at the Mission Resort + Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida, on Thursday, May 8 - Saturday, May 10.
