Florence, S.C. - The No. 22 Lenoir-Rhyne University Softball Team improved to 24-4 on the season with a pair of wins over Alderson-Broaddus (9-1) and UNC Pembroke (2-0) Sunday on the final day of the Francis Marion Patriot Invitational at Freedom Florence.

Trailing 1-0, the Bears scored all nine of their runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to run-rule the Battlers.
Sophomore catcher Sarah Atkins (Newport News, Va.) gave L-R the lead for good with a two-run single while senior outfielder Brittany Cherry (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) added a two-run double and junior shortstop Kat Rivers (Royston, Ga.) and senior designated player Ashley Duckworth (Conover, N.C.) connected on back-to-back home runs to finish off the scoring.
Freshman Alex Smith (Cocoa, Fla.) improved to 10-2 with the win.

Rivers and Duckworth again connected on back-to-back home runs in the Bears' half of third inning for the game's lone two runs.? Both Rivers and Duckworth are tied for team lead in home runs with 11.
UNC Pembroke's Caroline Newman (Fair Bluff, N.C.) suffered the loss and fell to 7-8 on the season.
