Salisbury, N.C. - The 17th-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne University Softball Team won twice Saturday at the Catawba College Invitational, defeating West Liberty (20-2) and Shippensburg (Pa.) (1-0).? L-R has now won five straight games and improved its record on the year to 11-3.

L-R freshman third baseman Haily Jarman (Wadesboro, N.C.) hit a pair of three-run home runs and tied a school record with eight runs batted in as the Bears scored their most runs in a single game since a 21-6 victory over Johnson C. Smith in 1996.?
Jarman also went four-for-four with a double and four runs scored while freshman shortstop Jody Mizelle (Colerain, N.C.) and senior outfielder Brandi Haithcock (Snow Camp, N.C.) added two hits and three runs batted in to lead the Bears.
Jarman's first three-run home run staked L-R to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning before the Bears put the contest away with a nine-run second frame highlighted by a three-run home run from Mizelle.
L-R junior Lauren Harris (Yadkinville, N.C.) improved to 4-1 with the win while West Liberty's Becky Fortuna (Willowick, Ohio) suffered the loss.? The Hilltoppers fell to 0-3 on the year with the setback.

Shippensburg's Emily Estep (Chambersburg, Pa.) (2-1) suffered the loss despite allowing just two hits as well to go along with four strikeouts.? The Raiders fell to 4-2 on the year.
