Freshman outfielder Jody Mizelle hit four home runs on the day including a school-record three in the first game of No. 16 Lenoir-Rhyne's home doubleheader sweep of Limestone Thursday.

Hickory, N.C. - The No. 16 Lenoir-Rhyne University Softball Team (21-6) swept a doubleheader from Limestone College (7-21-1), 9-2 and 6-4, Thursday at Bears Field.? L-R freshman outfielder Jody Mizelle (Colerain, N.C.) hit four home runs on the day including a school-record three in the first contest.

Led by Mizelle, the Bears also tied a school single-game record with five home runs en route to the win.

Mizelle and junior second baseman Carlee Carpenter (Newton, N.C.) led off the bottom of the first inning with back-to-back home runs for a 2-0 advantage.

The Saints tied the score at two thanks to run-scoring singles by Taylor Wigmore (Silver Spring, Md.) and Jordan Smith (Goose Creek, S.C.) in the top of the second inning but Mizelle gave L-R the lead for good with a two-run home run in its half of the fifth.

Lenoir-Rhyne put the game away with five runs in the sixth inning thanks to a pair of two-run home runs by junior first baseman Brittany Davidson (Fort Defiance, Va.) and Mizelle.

Mizelle also finished with five runs batted in while junior Dawon Millwood (Hixson, Tenn.) improved to 10-3 on the year with the win.? Limestone's Leah Quant (Charlotte, N.C.) fell to 2-5 with the loss.

Game Two - Lenoir-Rhyne 6, Limestone 4
The Bears jumped out to a 6-0 lead and held on in the end to complete the sweep of the Saints.

Mizelle scored in the top of the first inning on an RBI single by junior catcher Sarah Atkins (Newport News, Va.) before leading off L-R's five-run third with a solo home run, her team-leading 10th of the year.

Limestone scored twice in each of the fourth and sixth innings, respectively, to cut the margin to 6-4 but couldn't get any closer.? Smith had a two-run single for the Saints in the fourth.

L-R junior Lauren Harris (Yadkinville, N.C.) improved to 8-1 with the win while Atkins led the Bears offensively with two hits and two runs batted in.? Limestone's Jessie Wilkes (Lamar, S.C.) fell to 0-3 after being tagged with the loss.

Lenoir-Rhyne, winners of six straight, opens South Atlantic Conference play on Saturday when it travels to Harrogate, Tenn., to take on Lincoln Memorial in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
