Hickory, N.C. - The 15th-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne University Softball Team (13-4) shut out Queens University (10-8), 4-0, Wednesday afternoon at Bears Field.
L-R junior Dawon Millwood (Hixson, Tenn.) improved to 6-1 on the season after limiting Queens to just one hit while striking out 10 batters in picking up the complete game shutout.
The Bears broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the third inning on sophomore outfielder Kristin Lackey's (Hickory, N.C.) run-scoring single.
Lenoir-Rhyne also added single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to make it a 4-0 final.
Sophomore first baseman Jessica Fellmeth (Waxhaw, N.C.) and freshman shortstop Jody Mizelle (Colerain, N.C.) both hit RBI sacrifice flies in the fourth and fifth frames, respectively, for the Bears while freshman third baseman Haily Jarman (Wadesboro, N.C.) rounded out the scoring with a solo home run in the sixth.
Jarman, who now has five home runs on the year, finished with two hits and two runs scored as well to lead the Bears.
