Freshman third baseman Haily Jarman hit three home runs on the afternoon to lift Lenoir-Rhyne to a conference doubleheader sweep of Anderson, 12-3 and 12-7, Saturday at Bears Field.

Hickory, N.C. - The 11th-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne University Softball Team (32-7, 11-1) put its offense on display with a South Atlantic Conference doubleheader sweep of Anderson University (19-18, 1-11), 12-3 and 12-7, Saturday afternoon at Bears Field.

The second contest was ended in the sixth inning because of a severe thunderstorm.

Game One - Lenoir-Rhyne 12, Anderson 3 (six innings)
L-R third baseman Haily Jarman (Wadesboro, N.C.) hit two home runs and finished with four RBI while junior Dawon Millwood (Hixson, Tenn.) threw a three-hitter to lead the Bears to the win.

Millwood also struck out 11 batters in improving to 17-3 on the year and 7-0 against league opponents.

The Bears opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning before breaking the contest open with a four-run fifth inning capped off by a two-run home run from Jarman.

Anderson did battle back to cut the lead in half at 6-3 in the top of the sixth inning highlighted by Danielle Swygert's (Fairburn, Ga.) two-run home run.

The Bears run-ruled the Trojans with six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

L-R senior shortstop Kat Rivers (Royston, Ga.) connected on a two-run double before Jarman ended the contest with another two-run home run in the frame.

Rivers and junior second baseman Carlee Carpenter (Newton, N.C.) drove in three runs each for the Bears in the win.

Anderson's Casey Deer (Ulmer, S.C.) fell to 12-12 after suffering the loss.

Game Two - Lenoir-Rhyne 12, Anderson 7 (six innings)
The Bears rolled out to a 12-0 lead and held off a late Trojan charge to take the game and the doubleheader sweep.

Jarman led things off with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning before L-R exploded with nine runs in the third.

Junior catcher Sarah Atkins (Newport News, Va.) hit a two-run home run and sophomore first baseman Jessica Fellmeth (Waxhaw, N.C.) connected on a three-run round-tripper in the third frame for the Bears.

Anderson, however, came back with seven runs in the top of the fourth inning capped off by Swygert's three-run home run but the Trojans couldn't get any closer.

Lenoir-Rhyne freshman outfielder Jody Mizelle (Colerain, N.C.) added two hits and two runs batted in while sophomore Megan Laxton (Taylorsville, N.C.) improved to 3-1 with the win.

Anderson's Charlotte Sieber (Dacula, Ga.) drove in two runs while Alex Waldroup (LaGrange, Ga.) fell to 3-5 with the loss.

Lenoir-Rhyne travels to Mars Hill, N.C., to take on Mars Hill in a South Atlantic Conference doubleheader on Monday beginning at 2:00 p.m.? Anderson plays at Newberry in a league doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 2:00 p.m.
