Hickory, N.C. - The No. 23 Lenoir-Rhyne Softball Team (38-11, 10-4) split a South Atlantic Conference doubleheader with Brevard (19-20, 8-8) Friday afternoon at Bears Field.? The Tornados won the first contest, 5-1, before the Bears prevailed in the nightcap, 4-3, in 11 innings.

The Tornados' Brittany Tucker (Eden, N.C.) hit two home runs and finished with four runs batted in to lead Brevard to the victory.
Tucker hit solo home runs in each of the first and third innings, respectively, and added a two-run double in the sixth inning as well.
Brevard's Kayla Clemens (Sebring, Fla.) improved to 12-12 on the year after limiting Lenoir-Rhyne to just one run to go along with four strikeouts.
L-R senior Dawon Millwood (Hixson, Tenn.) suffered the loss while sophomore third baseman Haily Jarman (Wadesboro, N.C.) drove in the lone run for the Bears.
Lenoir-Rhyne, however, also saw its eight-game winning streak come to an end and lost its first South Atlantic Conference game of the year at home in 2012.

Game Two - Lenoir-Rhyne 4, Brevard 3 (11 innings)
Jarman ended the game for the Bears in the bottom of the 11th inning with a sacrifice fly as the Bears managed to salvage the split.
Lenoir-Rhyne forced extra innings when senior second baseman Carlee Carpenter (Newton, N.C.) connected on a home run to lead off the seventh inning, her sixth round-tripper of the season.
Carpenter tallied a game-high three hits while senior catcher Sarah Atkins (Newport News, Va.) hit a solo home run for the Bears in the contest as well.? Atkins is now tied for the team lead in home runs with 10.
Millwood (25-6) pitched seven scoreless innings en route to the win while Brevard's Alyssa Miller (Davie, Fla.) fell to 7-8 with the loss despite striking out 10 batters.?
Brevard was led offensively in the game by Chelsi Mallory (Mechanicsville, Va.), who tallied a pair of hits and an RBI.
