O'Connor Named to South Atlantic Conference Hall of Fame

ROCK HILL, S.C.  – The South Atlantic Conference will induct six members into the 2019 Hall of Fame Class, as announced by the league. Among the selections was Lenoir-Rhyne's Meredith O'Connor who will join Craig Eckstein, Danyel Locklear Jolicoeur, David Jones and David Riggins as the 2019 Hall of Fame Class along with John Hammond as the recipient of the Conference's Distinguished Alumni Award. The honorees will be formally inducted into the South Atlantic Conference Hall of Fame at the Hall of Fame Banquet in Greenville, S.C. on May 30, 2019.
 
"We are honored to have this impressive group of individuals join our Hall of Fame," said SAC commissioner Patrick Britz. "It is a pleasure to honor them for all of their accomplishments. They are all shining examples of the outstanding tradition of academic and athletic excellence in the South Atlantic Conference."
 
O'Connor was a two-time South Atlantic Conference Pitcher of the Year (2007, 2008) and a Third Team National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American in 2007. O'Connor holds Lenoir-Rhyne's career and single season (327) strikeout records, with 916 career strikeouts and 327 strikeouts during the 2008 season. She ranks in the top-five all-time in: games started, complete games, innings pitched, appearances and shutouts for the Bears. For her career, O'Connor owns a 63-15 record with three saves, 29 shutouts, five no-hitters and a 1.47 ERA. She led the Bears to three SAC Regular Season Championships (2006, 2007, 2008), a SAC Tournament Championship (2007) and three NCAA Division II Regional appearances.
 
Additionally, O'Connor was a two-time NFCA Division II All-South Atlantic Region performer and was a three-time All-SAC selection. In 2008, O'Connor garnered a spot on the Daktronics NCAA Division II South Atlantic Conference All-Region squad.

A 2008 graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne, O'Connor currently serves as a Registered Nurse and Clinical Supervisor at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C.
 
The 2019 South Atlantic Conference Hall of Fame Banquet will take place as a part of the Conference's Spring Meetings in Greenville, S.C.
