Traveling all the way to Pittsburgh, the Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Triathlon team captured a first-place finish at the Beaver County Tri Cup on Saturday morning. The Bears topped Division I Delaware and North Central College to earn the first-place spot. The draft legal sprint distance was 750 swim, 20km bike and 5km run.
Individually, Lenoir-Rhyne's freshman
Eliska Rihova took first place and was followed by fellow freshman
Sabrina Fleig who took home second. In total, the Bears had six of the top seven finishers in the race.
Chloe Telian,
Nanette Nikolajsen, Claudia Teran and
Sayti Plank finished in the top seven for the Bears.
"We had a really strong performance from every single athlete on a great course today," said head coach
Harley Mason. "We can't wait to be back next year."
On the men's collegiate club race side, LR took home third place and freshman
Mika Baumer took home second place overall.
