ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Golf Team earned a fifth place finish in the Spring Kick-Off Intercollegiate at St. John's Golf & Country Club.
On the opening day of the tournament, all schools competed in the first two of three rounds and the Bears found themselves in fifth on the leaderboard with a 611 (+35) score.
Amelia Rae Greenlee and Beatriz Espelosin both had strong opening rounds with each earning a 74 (+2) score, with Marta Escudero recording the best score out of any Bear on Monday with a 72 (E) finish.
As a team, Lenoir-Rhyne shot a 307 (+29) after the first round, and in the second round, the Bears improved as a team with a 304 (+26) score.
When the team returned to the course on Tuesday, they recorded their second 307 (+29) score on the week. After a rough first two rounds, Katie Sibley had her best day on the course with a 75 (+3) finish.
Lynn won the tournament with a 881 (+17) overall score, out shooting the runners-up, Lander, by nine shots.
The Bears will return to action next week in Hilton Head, S.C. for the Barton/LMU Invitational. The two-day even will begin on Monday, Feb. 20 at 9:00 a.m.
