Women's Cross Country Joel Krenz, Assistant AD for Media and Communications

Kessler leads the way at the Queens Royals Challenge

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Cross Country team was back on the course this weekend, taking part in the Queens Royals Challenge. Senior Elizabeth Kessler led the way for the Bears, setting a new 5K personal best with a time of 18:01. 

As a team, the Bears finished in 11th out of 20 teams, just behind SAC member Mars Hill and just above Fayetteville State.

Kessler's personal best was good enough for 28th out of 182 runners. Not far behind her was Maria Carmona, who's time of 19:05 put her in 68th. Joining her teammates in the top 100 was St. Stephens product Daniela Flores-Gutierrez, who's 19:27 put her in 90th. Rounding out the scoring for the Bears was Olivia Overholt (20:37) and Elisabeth Ronnstad (20:43). 

The Bears next race will be the SAC Championships on Saturday, October 26th. The event will take place at The Farm in Newberry, South Carolina.
