TOCCOA, GA - The Lenoir-Rhyne men's golf team picked up their second top-five finish of the year on Tuesday, taking third out of 16 teams at the Anderson/Erskine Currahee Invitational. Tops for the Bears was
Matthew McDougall, who used a 213 (-3) to take eighth, his second top-ten finish of the year.
As a team the Bears used rounds of 293-285-295 to finish with an 870 (+6), one stroke above Erskine and four stroke ahead of Lincoln Memorial. Wingate dominated the tournament, winning the team title with an 843 (-21), while their own Brandon Skidmore won the individual title with a 204 (-12).
Tying for 13th was
Slade Aliff and
Sean Finan, who each came through with even par scores of 216.
Nicklaus Newton placed 43rd with a 225 (+9), thanks in part to an even-par 72 in the second round.
Adam Gregg closed things out for the Bears with a 237 (+21).
INDIVIDUAL SCORES
The Bears will compete in one more Fall tournament, their own Fripp Island to Bermuda Invite on Monday/Tuesday, October 20-21. This tournament is hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne and will take place at the Ocean Point Golf Club on Fripp Island, S.C.
