Hickory, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne University Women's Lacrosse Team (3-4) won its second straight match with a 19-5 victory over Urbana (Ohio) (0-1) Monday evening at Moretz Stadium.
L-R freshman Rachel Hall (Durham, N.C.) finished with a match-high six goals while sophomore Sarah Minick (Marietta, Ga.) added four goals and an assist to lead the Bears.?
Minick now has a team-leading 24 goals on the year while Hall is second on the squad with 19.
The Blue Knights, who were playing their first-ever women's lacrosse match, were led by Brittany Mazzu (Derby, New York) and Ashley Gerken (Laguna Hills, Calif.) with two goals each.
The Bears put the contest away early after scoring the first four goals of the match and leading 12-1 at intermission.
Lenoir-Rhyne also held a 34-18 advantage in shots taken while freshman Amanda Cotto (Fort Myers, Fla.) picked up the win in goal after stopping seven shots.
Freshman Hayley Beattie (Washington, N.J.) added three goals and two assists and junior Stevie Dellinger (Morganton, N.C.) scored three times for the Bears as well.
Lenoir-Rhyne remains at home to face Lake Erie (Ohio) on Wednesday beginning at 7 p.m.? Urbana takes on Lees-McRae on Tuesday at 4 p.m., in Banner Elk, N.C.
