Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Lacrosse Downs Saint Leo, 10-8, In Home Finale

Freshman Anthony Mangili scored twice for Lenoir-Rhyne in a 10-8 victory over Saint Leo in a Deep South Conference match Sunday afternoon in the Bears' 2011 home finale at Moretz Stadium.

Hickory, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne University Men's Lacrosse Team (4-8, 2-4) picked up a win in its 2011 home finale with a 10-8 victory over Saint Leo (Fla.) University (5-6, 2-3) Sunday afternoon in a Deep South Conference match at Moretz Stadium.

Freshman Tyler Kotch (Butler, Pa.) led Lenoir-Rhyne with a team-high three goals while freshman Anthony Mangili (Durham, N.C.) scored twice and freshman Robert Darrow (Fort Myers, Fla.) added a goal and dished out three assists for the Bears.

Saint Leo's George Proechel (Orlando, Fla.) led all scorers with four goals while Dustin Goss (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) tallied four assists for the Lions in the losing effort.

L-R freshman Luke Nealon (Naples, Fla.) broke an eight-all tie with the game-winner with 3:39 remaining in the contest.? Kotch rounded out the scoring with his third goal on the afternoon with 36 seconds left in the final stanza.

Junior?Patrick Stasio (Williamsville, N.Y.) picked up the win in goal after stopping 16 shots for Lenoir-Rhyne, which came back to win after falling behind by a 2-0 score midway through the second period.

Saint Leo's goalkeeper, Patrick Berry (Pasadena, Md.), made eight saves in the losing effort.? The Lions, the defending league champions, also fell despite holding a 48-29 edge in shots taken.

Lenoir-Rhyne travels to Gaffney, S.C., to take on top-ranked Limestone on Tuesday beginning at 4:00 p.m.? Saint Leo returns home to host conference-rival Florida Southern Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
