HICKORY, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne men's lacrosse team saw four individuals named to the USILA All-America team.
Donovan Powell (Attack) was named to the first team,
Matthew Mancini (Face-off) to the second team, and
Mac Murphy (Defense) and
John Mink (Long Stick Midfielder) were honorable mention honorees.
Powell is Lenoir-Rhyne's lone first team honoree. The senior had a historic season, finishing with 88 points (53g, 35a), the second most in program history and tied for the sixth most in the country this year. He scored in every game this year, highlighted by an eight goal, two assist outing against nationally ranked Catawba on March 18th. He closed his career ranked fifth in program history with 127 goals and seventh with 186 points. This is his first All-America award.
Mancini is making his third consecutive appearance on the USILA All-America team. He boasted a .652 face-off win percentage this year, 12th in the country, and finished with 204 face-off victories. He finished the year with an above .500 face-off win percentage in all but two games. His 773 career face-off victories is second in program history.
Mac Murphy was one of two Bears named to the All-SAC First Team and was an All-Region second team honoree. The defender started all 17 games this season and led the team with 19 caused turnovers. He helped Lenoir-Rhyne average just 9.00 goals allowed per game, 15th in Division II.
John Mink is making his first appearance on an All-America team. He is a 1x SAC Defensive Player of the week and finished the season with 39 grounds balls, the most of any non face-off specialist. His 17 caused turnovers was second behind Murphy.
