The Bears and Trojans are no stranger to each other, facing off seven times since 2021. Lenoir-Rhyne holds a 5-2 record in those games, winning the first four before falling twice in 2025. These teams met once this season, a 19-14 win for the Bears in Hickory. This is a battle of the top two scoring offense in the country as Anderson averages 19.68 goals per game and Lenoir-Rhyne sits at 18.50 goals per game.Â
Lenoir-Rhyne advanced to tomorrow's game with a commanding 15-8 win over Florida Tech in the NCAA opening round. The Bears are led on offense by seniors
Donovan Powell and
Jarrett Huff. Powell is in the midst of one of the top offensive seasons in school history. His 52 goals are the fourth most in program history, sitting just two behind Toron Eccleston for third all-time. Huff leads the team and is tied for fourth all-time with 33 assists. He led the team with seven points (3g, 4a) in the win down in Florida. Goalie
Owen Peters has been extremely solid in goal for the Bears, going 9-1 in his 10 starts with an average of 8.42 goals allowed per game. This team, who boasts just four players who won the national championship in 2023, placed eight on the All-SAC team.Â
Anderson comes into this game with a 15-4 record after defeated No. 10 seeded Barton 24-12 and No. 2 seeded Wingate 21-13 in the first two NCAA DII tournament rounds. AJ Rush was named the SAC specialist of the year after finishing second in the country with a .705 face-off win percentage. In total, the Trojans placed 10 on the All-Conference team to lead the league. Cole Sparks is the league leader with 90 points (37g, 53a). The Bears held him in check earlier this year as he posted his only game without a point all season in Anderson's loss in Hickory. Sparks brushed that off, however, and has 5+ points in three of his four games since. Goalie Adin Laughlin is 5-2 with an 11.81 goals allowed average and .494 save percentage.
The other quarterfinal in the region feature No. 5 seeded Lewis traveling to No. 1 seeded Tampa. The winner of that game will host the winner of Lenoir-Rhyne and Anderson on Sunday.Â
