No. 3 Limestone Too Much For Lenoir-Rhyne In Men's Lacrosse, 15-4

Lenoir-Rhyne University redshirt freshman Connor Squires finished with a goal and an assist in a 15-4 loss to No. 3 Limestone College Wednesday afternoon at Moretz Stadium.

Hickory, N.C. - The Limestone Men's Lacrosse Team (4-0), ranked No. 3 in NCAA Division II, remained undefeated on the season with a 15-4 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne (0-4) Wednesday afternoon at Moretz Stadium.

Limestone's Riley Loewen (Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA) led all scorers with five goals while Jackson Decker (Port Moody, British Columbia, CANADA) added four goals to lead the Saints to the win.

Four different players scored for Lenoir-Rhyne, including redshirt freshman Connor Squires (Lawrenceville, Ga.) with a goal and an assist, in the loss.

The Saints were in control throughout the match as they raced to a 9-0 lead before the Bears got on the board when Squires scored with one minute remaining in the first half.

In addition, Limestone held the advantage in shots taken (41-31) and ground balls (34-28) on the afternoon.

Limestone goalkeeper Steve Gartelman (Seaford, N.Y.) was credited with the win as he stopped five shots while L-R senior goalkeeper Patrick Stasio (Williamsville, N.Y.) suffered the loss.?

Meanwhile, Lenoir-Rhyne's reserve goalkeeper, freshman Alex Squires (Lawrenceville, Ga.), tallied 11 saves during the contest as well.

Lenoir-Rhyne hits the road for its first away match of the season when it travels to Atlanta, Ga., to take on Shorter Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m., at Walton High School.? Limestone returns home to host Saint Leo on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., as well.
