Catawba Gets By Lenoir-Rhyne, 10-9, In Men's Lacrosse

Lenoir-Rhyne freshman Ned Kaish scored a team-high three goals in a 10-9 setback against Catawba in Deep South Conference action Friday night in Salisbury, N.C.

Salisbury, N.C. - The Catawba College Men's Lacrosse Team (7-1, 3-1) scored the final two goals to come from behind and defeat Lenoir-Rhyne University (2-7, 0-3), 10-9, Friday night in a Deep South Conference contest at Shuford Stadium.

Adam Hebert (Charlotte, N.C.) scored the game-winning goal with 1:42 left to lift the Indians to the win.? Catawba is receiving votes in this week's USILA NCAA Division II National Top 10 Poll.

L-R freshman Ned Kaish (Atlanta, Ga.) gave the Bears a 9-8 advantage with a goal at the 4:53 mark of the fourth period before the Indians scored the final two goals en route to the win.

Kaish led the Bears with three goals and now has a team-leading 19 goals on the year.? Freshman Jon Hanlon (Haymarket, Va.) also scored twice for Lenoir-Rhyne despite the loss.

Catawba was led by Steven Ridolfo's (Charlotte, N.C.) four goals while Braden Artem (Acton, Ontario, CANADA) scored three times in the win.

The Indians also held advantages in both shots taken (53-31) and ground balls (44-31) while Catawba's Michael Pecchia (Coquitlam, British Columbia, CANADA) won in goal after stopping 10 shots in the match.

Lenoir-Rhyne freshman goalkeeper Alex Squires (Lawrenceville, Ga.) suffered the loss despite making 18 saves on the night.

L-R will look for its first Deep South Conference win of the season when it hosts Florida Southern on Sunday at home beginning at 1:00 p.m.? Catawba, meanwhile, hosts Queens next Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
