Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Lacrosse Ends Season By Defeating SCAD, 21-8

Lenoir-Rhyne University freshman Sarah Gioconda finished with four goals on the day in the Bears' season-ending 21-8 victory over SCAD Friday afternoon at Hardeeville, S.C.

Hardeeville, S.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Lacrosse Team (12-4) ended its 2012 season with a 21-8 victory over SCAD (10-4) Friday afternoon at the Savannah College of Art & Design Sports Complex.

L-R junior Sarah Minick (Marietta, Ga.) and freshman Mary Minick (Marietta, Ga.) each finished with five goals while freshman Sarah Gioconda (Apex, N.C.) scored four times to lead the Bears to the victory.

Sarah Minick ended the season ranked first on the team in goals scored (45) and points (63) while Mary Minick was second with 42 goals this year.

Kayla Nelson (Denton, Md.) led the Bees with three goals while Hayley Fauvelle (Lake Oswego, Ore.) added two goals and an assist despite the loss for SCAD, who saw its six-match winning streak come to an end.

The Bees scored the first three goals of the second half to cut the margin to 8-7 before the Bears reeled off 13 straight goals to take complete control of the match.

Freshman Lauren Donovan (Hollywood, Md.) and sophomore Kaelyn Bildsten (Westerville, Ohio)?added two goals and an assist each as well?for L-R, who held a 41-22 advantage in shots taken.

In goal, Lenoir-Rhyne freshman Allison Senft (Marietta, Ga.) picked up the win after stopping six shots while SCAD's Jennifer Danko (Westerville, Ohio) suffered the loss.? Danko tallied seven saves on the day.

SCAD hosts Newberry tomorrow beginning at 2:00 p.m.
