Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne University Men's Swimming Team secured an impressive win over Saint Andrews 194–40 in their home opener Saturday afternoon at Shuford Physical Education Center.
The men swept both the 400-yard medley and the 400-yard freestyle relays during the meet. The 400-yard medley team consisting of freshman
Jacob Greene (Lewisville, N.C.), junior
Jacob Queen (Hickory, N.C.), freshman
Alex Ballard (Winston-Salem, N.C.), and sophomore
Spencer Ashby (Spartanburg, S.C.) won in a time of 3:34.05. The 400-yard freestyle team consisting of Queen, Ashby, junior
Dillon Carey (Denver, N.C.), and junior
Seth Hurst (Clover, S.C.) won in a time of 3:16.06.
The Bears were led by Queen, Greene, and Ballard who each won two individual events for the afternoon. Queen won both the 100-yard (52.55) and 200-yard (1:53.02) backstrokes; Greene took victory in both the 500-yard (4:54.37) and 1000-yard (10:17.72) freestyles; while Ballard was successful in both the 200-yard butterfly (1:57.34) and 200-yard individual medley (2:00.15).
