Milledgeville, Ga. – Lenoir-Rhyne University's
Justin Dean has been named to the 2018 D2CCA All-Southeast Region Baseball Second Team. D2CCA is the Division II Conference Commissioners Association.
Dean, a junior outfielder from Mauldin, S.C., led the Bears in several offensive categories this year including batting average (.398), runs scored (59), hits (74), doubles (13), triples (seven), total bases (119), slugging percentage (.640), on-base percentage (.498) and stolen bases (14).
Dean was a 2018 First-Team All-South Atlantic Conference honoree who started all 49 games for Lenoir-Rhyne (27-22, 13-14). Dean, a three-year starter (2016-18), tied for the league lead in triples (seven) as well.
The Peach Belt Conference had 16 honorees on the two teams while the South Atlantic Conference had 11 and the Conference Carolinas totaled six. The first-team selections will move on to the All-America ballot.
The D2CCA All-America programs honor student-athletes in Division II athletic programs. The mission of the CCA is to encourage and promote Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The voting, nomination and calculations are all conducted by the school's sports information directors. The teams are voted on by the members of D2SIDA, NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors Association.
