Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne University's Men's Swimming Team came out victorious in their dual meet against Barton 153–108 on Senior Day Saturday afternoon at the Shuford Physical Education Center.
Lenoir-Rhyne opened the night with a win in the 400-yard medley relay. The team consisting of freshman
Jacob Greene (Lewisville, N.C.), junior
Jacob Queen (Hickory, N.C.), freshman
John Ryan (Cummings, Ga.) and sophomore
Spencer Ashby (Spartanburg, S.C.) finished in a time of 1:37.78.
The Bears were led by Queen and senior
Jacob Sink (Advance, N.C.) who won two events each for the meet. Queen won the 100-yard backstroke (52.44) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:55.75), while Sink won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.02) and the 100-yard butterfly (53.57).
Other individual event winners for the meet included: Greene (200-yard freestyle, 1:46.98), senior
Sam Melnyk (200-yard butterfly, 2:00.74), junior
Dillon Carey (50-yard freestyle, 22.39), and freshman
Alex Ballard (400-yard individual medley, 4:21.83).
The men finished the night victorious in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team consisting of Ashby, Queen, Carey, and Greene finished in a time of 3:14.49
Next up, the Men's Swimming Team travels to Wingate, N.C., on Friday, January 18, where they will take on Catawba and Wingate for their final double-dual meet of the season.
