Clearwater, Fla- On Day 1 of the 2019 Spartan Invite, Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Swimming broke four team records. The 2019 Spartan Invite is a four-day event hosted by University of Tampa in Clearwater, Florida featuring seven different schools.
In the Prelims,
Micah McRea broke the team record in the 200 IM with a time of 1:50.22, which was also good for a National 'B' cut time. In the finals, McRea broke his record from the morning session (1:48.53) on a way to a 5th place finished in the A final.
Also in the 200 IM,
Jacob Greene,
John Ryan and
Alex Ballard all qualified for the final session. Greene finished 3rd in the B final while Ryan finished 8th. Ballard swam a 1:53.01 to finish second in the C final.
Spencer Ashby broke the team record in the prelims in the 50 Free with a time of 20.76. Later that evening Ashby finished 5th in the A final just missing his record from the morning (20.78).
The men capped their Day 1 with a 6th place finish in the 200 Medley Relay with their fourth team record of the day. The team of

Spencer Ashby swam a 1:32.40 to beat the previous school record by over a second.
