Winter Park, Fla. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Team traveled down to the sunshine state to open the 2019 campaign for a three-game series against the Rollins College Tars, but lost the season opener in nonconference play, 5-0.

STATS OF THE GAME:
• Getting the starting nod for Rollins was Cameron Enck and his impressive outing included 16-straight batters retired and a perfect five-straight innings as he got the win on the mound with seven strikeouts and just one hit given up on the night in 7.0 innings of work.

Jake Conroy gave up two runs and two hits while striking out three and walking one as he took the loss in his first start for the Bears.
Hunter Martin put in 2.0 innings of work in relief and
Brett Fulk worked the final frame.
• The Bears were limited at the plate, just getting three hits all night, two in the eighth inning alone. LR stranded two in the eighth in what proved to be a momentum breaker for the road team. Lenoir-Rhyne finished with no runs on three hits and one walk with 10 strikeouts.
• The Tars were led by Jared Herron, who hit the two-run bomb over the center field wall in a 1-for-2 day, to take the 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth. Rollins finished at the plate with a line of five runs on five hits and three walks to go along with seven strikeouts.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• The Bears have opened on the road every season since they hosted North Greenville on Feb. 1, 2014.
• Lenoir-Rhyne was shutout for the first time since falling to Carson-Newman, 5-0, on April 14, 2018.
