Newberry, S.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Team lost both of the double header games on Saturday afternoon against the Newberry Wolves, 14-2 and 6-5 in extra innings.

STATS OF GAME ONE:
•
Jake Conroy got the starting nod for the Bears as he took the loss going 3.1 innings, giving up six runs on six hits with three walks and one strikeout. He was one of six pitchers to see work in the game.
• Lenoir-Rhyne had just three players with hits, but
E.J. Ranel had two of the team's four. He and
Caleb Beatty each scored a run.
• Newberry sent Tomas Sorcia, Jr. picked up the win after working 8.0 innings and throwing 99 pitches while giving up just two runs on four hits. Ryan Harbin finished the game for the Wolves.
• Eight members from the home team recorded base knocks with Tyler Ackard arguably having the best game going 2-for-3 with two runs batted in, two runs scored and a walk.
STATS OF GAME TWO:
• After throwing six pitchers in the first game of the double header, the Bears handed the ball to
Alex Shirazi and he worked nearly the entire game, putting in 6.0 innings of work, giving up four runs on seven hits, seven strikeouts and three walks. He left in a tied ballgame and did not receive the decision.
Hunter Martin came in for the Bears in relief and took the loss, his second of the season, after throwing 2.1 innings and giving up two runs on five hits, three strikeouts and two walks.
• The Bears were led at the plate by DH
Matthew Freeman, who had a monster game at the plate, going 4-for-4 with two homers, a double and two RBIs and three runs to show for it. Fuller was close behind with a 2-for-5 day including a double and a run scored.
• Lenoir-Rhyne scored one in the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth while the Wolves had a 4-spot in the third inning and one in the eighth and ninth to take the win.
• Newberry was led at the plate Zane Terrance who finished 3-for-3 with three RBIs and drove in the winning RBI Double in the bottom of the ninth to win the game for the Wolves.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• In game one,
Clay Ervin and
John Bauguess made their first appearances of the season.
• Fuller's eight-game hit streak came to an end with an 0-for-4 performance in the first game of the day.

The Bears will stay on the road to play Belmont Abbey on Tuesday, Feb. 26 with first pitch set for 5 p.m.
