Box Score 2 Salisbury, N.C.-- Lenoir-Rhyne's Baseball Team fell to #3 Catawba in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon in Salisbury. Catawba wins the weekend series two games to one after the Bears won Friday evening 4-2.

STATS OF GAME ONE:
- Catawba used a seven-run 4th inning to take a 9-0 lead. All seven runs were scored with two outs, Jackson Reaper's three-run blast was the big blow in the inning.
- Will Jones and Andy Lopez got the Bears on the board in the 6th. Both hit two-run home runs in a four-run inning for the Bears.
- Senior Alex Shirazi got the start but only lasted 3 2/3 innings. Shirazi gave up 8 runs on 8 hits. 3 2/3 innings is Shirazi shortest start in his career for the Bears.
- LR used seven pitchers in relief of Shirzai. Bears bullpen struggled surrendering 11 runs and hits in 4 1/3 innings.
- 19 runs and 19 hits were a season-highs allowed for the Bears so far. LR gave up 13 runs and 16 hits against Mount Olive in separate games last month.
STATS OF GAME TWO:
- Bears jumped on the Indians with three first inning runs. David Bell lead off with a single and then Jones walked before Connor Smith doubled them in. Lopez finished the scoring by staying hot with an rbi single to score Smith.
- After the Bears scored on a wild pitch to take a 4-0 lead in the third, Reaper struck again for the Indians. Reaper's second three-run homer of the day got the Indians to 4-3.
- Catawba tied it with an unearned run in the 4th, chasing Bears starter Jarrod Large from the game. Large went 3+ innings allowing 4 runs on 4 hits.
- Catawba manufactured the game-winning run in the 5th, Reaper led off with a single, stole second, move to third on a ground ball then scored on a sac fly to gave the Indians the 5-4 win.
- Brett Fulk and Ben Friebel both pitched scoreless out of the bullpen for the Bears.
- LR had a chance to tie it in the 7th, Bryce Stober lead off with a double, went to third on Brock Johnson's SAC bunt but Bell grounded out to third and Ferlenda struck out to end the game.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Jones, who started his 100th career game yesterday evening, hit his fourth career homerun in the 6th.
- Lopez's homerun was his first as a Bear.
- Ferlenda went 2-4 in game one. It was Ferlenda 9th multiple hit game already for LR
- LR error in the 4th inning of game two marks the Bears 8th straight game with at least one error.
UP NEXT: LR will return home Monday for a 3:00 PM doubleheader against Lake Erie.
