Hickory, N.C.-- For the first time this season, the Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Swimming team had a home meet. The Bears welcomed Wingate and Catawba for a Saturday matinee inside Shuford Pool. The Bears came away with a 187-36 win against Catawba but fell to Wingate 183-70.
Sophomore
Micah McRea took home two events on Saturday. First, McRea took home the 100 yard breaststroke with a 56.96 time. Teammate
Connor Greene finished third with a 59.01 as well during the 100 breaststroke. Later in the meet, McRea won the 400 IM with a 4:03.89 time. McRea won the IM by over six seconds.
Senior
Jacob Queen took home the 200 Yard Breaststroke with a 2:06.68 time.
Jacob Greene finished second for the Bears in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 52.31 just finishing behind Wingate's Marcel Snitko for first (51.97). The Bears 200 Yard Freestyle Relay had a good performance as well finishing third. The trio of Greene, Queen, and McRea joined
Spencer Ashby to finish with a time of 1:26.00.
The Bears will have one more meet at home next Friday at 4:00 against Mars Hill. This meet will serve as the last tune-up before the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championship that will take place in Charlotte February 18 through February 21. Next Saturday's home meet will serve as Senior Day for the Bears.
