Final Results
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Golf team finished T-14 in the 18-team field at the Queens Invitational at Irish Creek Country Club in Kannapolis. Junior
Liam Waldron had a fantastic tournament, following up his day one rounds of 67 and 68 with an even par 71 in the final round to finish 7-under par 206 to tie for 10th in the individual competition. Carson-Newman won the team competition by one shot, shooting 825 (-25).
Waldron, a native of Aberdeen, Scotland, finished second in the entire field with a score of -6 on Par 4s, and also made an eagle. His two rounds yesterday were the two lowest rounds of the year for the Bears.
"Liam played really well throughout the weekend," said head coach
Elliot Gealy. "He was a few putts away from going low again today, but he gave us a good effort. We are very close as a team. We just have to finish better, and we will start to see our results improve."
Following Waldron for LR was
Matthew Raybould, who fired a final round 72 (+1).
Tyler Hashmi shot 2-under par 69 in the final round,
Dawson Walker shot 76, and
Jack Alward bounced back with a 72 in the final round.
The Bears are next in action next week at home for the only time this year, hosting the Donald Ross Intercollegiate at Mimosa Hills Country Club next Monday and Tuesday.
