HICKORY, N.C. -- Lenoir-Rhyne right handed pitcher
Ian Foggo has signed a professional contract with the Houston Astros. Foggo spent one season with Lenoir-Rhyne after time at Division I Citadel and Charleston Southern and finished the 2021 campaign with 20 strikeouts in 11.1 innings pitched.
"I am very proud of Ian and the work he has put in," said Head Coach
Chris Ramirez. "He definitely has the talent to pitch at the highest level with a fastball in the mid to upper 90's and plus breaking ball. This is also a great example of how our program is intended to work on all levels. Coach Skonieczki does a great job of finding and signing highly talented players. Coach Beasley did a tremendous job taking Ian's talent and making it play in games. Coach Risdon used his connections to place Ian in the highest profile summer league in the country, Cape Cod League. And Coach Caldwell and his strength staff does as good as anybody to make our athletes strong, explosive and healthy."
