ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Lenoir-Rhyne men's golf team finshed 8th in a very difficult field at the Jay Jenison Cup at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Fla. these past two days. The Bears shot a final round 284 on Tuesday, which was five strokes better than their previous team best yesterday. Barry College won the title, edging out host Flagler by three shots.
After shooting a first round 75,
Liam Waldron bounced back with a 67 and 69 in rounds two and three respectively. He finished T-7 with 211 (-5) in the individual competition to pace the Bears.
Three Bears -
Matthew Raybould,
Tyler Hashmi and
Jack Alward - shot the exact same score (147 - 3-over par) on the 36-hole first day of the competition. Raybould shot 69 in the final round to finish with an even par 216 to tie for 30th. Alward finished 3-over at 219 after a 72 in the final round, and Hashmi finished T-46 with a 221 (+5).
Freshman
Holt Allison rounded out the Bear effort, finishing T-57 with a 223 (+7).
This tournament featured two of the top four teams in the country (Florida Tech and Barry) and several other teams received votes in the latest poll. The Bears' next competition is October 4-5 at the Limestone Invitational in Gaffney, S.C.
