Day Two Results
Clearwater, Fla.-- The Lenoir-Rhyne Swimming Teams traveled to Clearwater, Florida for the 7th Annual Spartan Invitational, hosted by Tampa University this weekend. The four day event started Friday and will conclude on Monday evening. On Day two, the Bears saw three swimmers earn NCAA B-cut swims during the competition.
On the Men's side,
Micah McRea earned his NCAA B-cut swim in the 400 IM on Saturday evening. McRea finished in second place with a time of 3:53.18. His time was six seconds faster then the B standard set by the NCAA to qualify for the NCAA Championships later this year. The B standard time for division II is 4:00.42 for the 400 IM. McRea's time of 3:53.18 is the seventh fastest time in Division II this year in the 400 IM.
On the Women's side,
Lisa Boernigen finished 4th in the A final of the 400 IM with a time of 4:30.48. Boernigen's time was two seconds over the B standard time of 4:30.57 set by the NCAA. Then later in the night, Freshman
Ella Penny got her first ever NCAA B-cut time in the 200 Free. Penny just slid under the 1:53.08 B standard time with a swim of 1:52.91 for a 7th place finish as Penny continues to shine in her first year on campus.
With the event halfway over the men are in 4th place in their five team field behind host Tampa, Indian River, St. Leo. The men are ahead of SAC foe Emory & Henry. The women are in 5th in their six team field as West Florida joined the women side.
Day three started with prelims at 9:30 and finals that started at 6:00 PM. tonight.
