Clearwater, Fla. -- The Lenoir-Rhyne Swimming Teams finished the four-day Spartan Invitational yesterday in Clearwater, Florida. The men finished in fourth place in their five team event while the women finished fifth in a six team field. Both team defeated SAC foe Emory & Henry during the four-day event. The Men finished with 418 points while the Women had 170 points.Â
After three Bears received NCAA B-cut times on day two of the event, day three saw a school record fall in the men's 800 free relay. The team of
Micah McRea, Chris Glebus,
Renato Herran,
Levi McRea set the new program record in the morning prelims then beat that record in the finals. They completed the 800 yard relay in 6:45.10. That time was good four 4th place asÂ
Micah McRea's split of 1:38.46 also set a men's 200 free team record.Â
Earlier in the night, McRea also finished second and earned another NCAA B-cut time in the 100 breast with a time of 54.70 while Herran and
Nathan McCormick qualified for the A final in the 100 back. Herran finished 5th (50.73) and McCormick (51.65) was right behind his teammate for 6th place.Â
On the final night,
Lisa Boernigen won the C final heat and earned herself a NCAA B-cut time with a blazing 51.92 time.Â
Both teams are off for the holiday break and will return to the pool with a home meet against Emory & Henry on Friday January 6th.Â
