McRea and Boernigen Compete at NCAA Championship; McRea Earns All-American

Greensboro, N.C.- For the first time in program history, the Lenoir-Rhyne Swimming Team sent student-athletes to the NCAA Championship for the third year in a row. Lisa Boernigen and Micah McRea completed in their third straight championship. 

On day one, both completed in the 200 IM. Boernigen finished 30th with a time of 2:05.44 while McRea finished 23rd with a time 1:48.83. 

On Thursday, McRea qualified for the finals in the 400 IM. In the Prelims, McRea finished with a 3:55.05 time but improved his time by almost three seconds while finishing 4th in the consolation finals for a 12th place finish to earn Honorable Mention All-American honors. Boernigen finished 40th in the 400 IM with a 4:35.6 time. 

Day three saw Boernigen finish 24th in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:05.20 while McRea finished 21st in the 100 Breast with a time of 54.74. 

Saturday, the fourth and final day, saw Boernigen finish 39th in the 100 Free with a time of 51.85, which concluded the event for her. 

With McRea finishing in the 400 IM, the Bears took 27th place overall with five points as Queens took home both the Women's and Men's overall championship.

The duo has now completed in the NCAA Championship in Geneva, Ohio (2020), Birmingham, Alabama (2021), Greensboro, North Carolina (2022), and now has its sights on next year's championship in Indianapolis, Indiana.
