ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Softball Players of the Week for games played in the fifth week of the 2022 season. Lenoir-Rhyne's Lauren Rakes earns the Pitcher of the Week honors for the third-straight week.
Rakes, a junior pitcher, helped the Bears improve to a 17-6 record on the season and 4-0 record on the week while playing 14.2 total innings. Overall, the Hamptonville, N.C., native gave up only four hits and two walks, while striking out 29. In her time on the mound, she allowed only one run scored and put down a one hit shutout against Coker to open SAC conference play. Rakes also passed the 300 career strikeout mark against Belmont Abbey last Wednesday.
Rakes and the rest of the Bears will return to action today (3/8) against Limestone. First game starts at 1:00 PM.
