SALISBURY, N.C. - In their first dual meet of the 2023-24 season, the Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Swimming Team was handed a 205-56 defeat by Catawba.
Despite not winning any events, the Bears were able to muster a couple of runner-up finishes by Levi McRea and Renato Herran.
McRea, the sophomore from Hickory, N.C., posted a second-place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:07.71. For Herran, the sophomore from Plantation, Fla. finished second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 53.27.
In the men's 200-yard freestyle relay, the combined team of Herran, Christopher Glebus, Christopher Forsey, and Matthew Stein came in second with a 1:28.79 posting.
Glebus, the sophomore from Greensboro, N.C., had a couple of third place finishes when he recorded a time of 1:48.41 in the 200-yard freestyle and a 5:04.43 posting in the 500-yard freestyle.
Forsey, the sophomore from Concord, N.C., finished in third place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a 1:00.83 posting. In his first collegiate dual meet, Avery Cochran from Charlotte, N.C. recorded a third-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, thanks to a time of 23.60.
The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Swimming Team will return to the pool on Friday, Oct. 20 for a road dual meet against Mars Hill.
