HICKORY, N.C. - In its final meet of the calendar year, the Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Swimming Team came up short in a dual meet at home against Milligan.
Levi McRea was the lone Bear to win an event in the competition thanks to his time of 9:51.59 in the 1000-yard freestyle. The sophomore also recorded a time of 2:16.31 to finish second in 200-yard breaststroke.
In those same events that McRea competed in, Jacob Chapman finished fifth in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:47.39. Meanwhile, Jake Simpson finished fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:31.30.
While there was only one relay event on the day, McRea was joined alongside Simpson, Cordin Schrum and Davis Hull on the "B" team to finish fifth in the 400-yard individual medley relay, with a time of 3:49.33. In the same race, the LR "A" team finished third with a time of 3:38.23; that group was made up of Renato Herran, Christopher Forsey, Matthew Stein, and Christopher Glebus.
Herran recorded two second place finishes in the meet for his performances in the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard individual medley. The sophomore notched a time of 1:47.54 in the freestyle event while putting together a performance of 2:02.45 in the individual medley.
In the 200-yard freestyle race, Forsey tallied a fourth-place time of 1:50.25. The sophomore also participated in the 100-yard butterfly, where he finished fifth with a 55.36 posting.
Meanwhile, for Glebus, the sophomore recorded a third-place time of 53.43 in the 100-yard butterfly while also taking second place in the 100-yard backstroke event with a 53.70 result.
The list continues for LR swimmers with multiple Top 5 finishes starting with Brooks Higginbotham. The freshman finished fourth in the 200-yard freestyle event with a time of 2:06.78. In the 200-yard individual medley, Higginbotham took fifth place with a 2:09.37 performance.
For Michael Caram, the freshman had the best LR time of 2:19.50 in 200-yard backstroke to finish in fourth place. In the 50-yard freestyle event, Caram just finished in the Top 5 with a time of 25.21.
UP NEXT: The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Swimming Team will be off for the remainder of 2023. The team will return to action on Friday, Jan. 5, for a dual meet against Converse in Spartanburg, S.C.
