Box Score HICKORY, N.C. – The #16 Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Lacrosse Team opened the season with a 22-11 thrashing of Young Harris on a chilly Sunday evening. The score was 7-6 after the first quarter but the Bears outscored YHC 15-5 over the final three quarters to pull away.

STATS OF THE GAME:
• LR nearly tied the record for the most goals in a game, coming one shy. LR scored 23 goals in a game on two different occasions, both coming in 2014.
• The Bears would pull away thanks to a 7-0 second quarter and a 5-1 advantage in the fourth quarter. LR dominated in shots, holding a 61-35 edge. LR also had the upper hand in ground balls, finishing with 46 as compared to 25 for the Mountain Lions.
• LR won 26 of the 37 face offs on the evening with
Noah Flasch winning 23 of 34. Flasch's 23 faceoff wins ties a career-high and also ranks as the fourth most in a single game in team history.
• 11 different players scored for the Bears, led by five from redshirt sophomore
Myles Moffat.
Eric Dickinson and
Bowen Collins each had three goals and two assists and
Brett Newton added his first career hat trick. For Dickinson, the hat trick was the 25th of his career.
• Flash finished with a game-high 11 ground balls and
Christian Starcke added five.

Noah Lalli earned the win in goal, making eight saves in his 47:39 of game action.
• Thomas Semple added three goals for the visitors and took a game-high 10 shots.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• Despite all of the Bears success, LR is just 2-8 in season-opening contests with both wins coming over Young Harris. The Bears topped the Mountain Lions to open the 2018 season and have started every other season with games against Limestone or Belmont Abbey.
• Young Harris is coached by LR alum Jay Goldsmith who opened up his head coaching career today. Goldsmith played at LR from 2014-15 and ranks sixth in career goal sand ninth in career points in program history.
• The Bears are now 4-0 all-time against Young Harris and 3-0 inside Moretz Stadium.
• LR owns a 46-27 all-time mark at home in program history.
• The Bears improve to 41-11 all-time in games where they are nationally ranked.
