Box Score HICKORY, N.C. – In one of the biggest wins in program history, the No. 17 Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Lacrosse Team overcame a slow start to hand No. 3 Adelphi a 17-16 season-opening loss on Sunday afternoon at Moretz Stadium. The Bears faced deficits of 4-0 and 9-4 but rallied to stun the Panthers with nine second half goals.

STATS OF THE GAME:
• Adelphi scored the games first four goals in just 3:58 to jump out early.
Myles Moffat stopped the Adelphi run with the Bears first goal and
Eric Dickinson added his first to cut the lead to 4-2.
• Down 9-4 with 8:17 left in the first half, the Bears roared back.
Chris Britton scored twice and
Will Canata added a goal to cut the lead to 10-7. With 2:01 left,
Edward Tate cut the lead to 10-8 heading into the break.
• The Bears drew even at 12 before grabbing their first lead of the game on a
Bryce Reece score.
• Adelphi tied the game at 14 in the fourth quarter but the Bears responded with three straight to take the upper hand.
David Bell put the Bears on top and Reece and Moffat gave the Bears a 17-14 advantage.
• A late rally cut the lead to one with 1:32 to play but the Bears held on to pull off the upset.
• LR held a slim 46-44 advantage in shots and had a 38-26 advantage in ground balls.
Noah Flasch was outstanding on the face off, winning 25 of 36 and scooping up 10 ground balls.
• Moffat and
Toron Eccleston finished with three goals and Dickinson had two goals and three assists.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• The win was the second-highest opponent Lenoir-Rhyne has ever beaten. The Bears knocked off Limestone who was ranked No. 1 in the nation on Feb. 10, 2018.
• Freshmen scored seven of LR's 17 goals on the game.
• This is the first all-time win for the Bears over Adelphi. The Panthers won the only previous matchup 11-10 on February 25, 2014.
