Hickory, N.C.-- On the day the Lenoir-Rhyne Men's and Women's Swimming celebrated their seniors, they closed out their 2020-21 home schedule with a dominant sweep against Mars Hill. Both the Men and Women won 13 of 14 events on the evening. The Men took home a 181-54 win while the Women won 177-73. All eight seniors took home a victory in their last home meet in their LR career.
On the Women's side, Sophomore
Lisa Boernigen won two events and was a part of two winning relays on the evening. Lisa had a 26.70 time in the 50 fly, which is a new school record. Lisa also took home the 100 Free and was part of the winning team in the 200 Medley and Freestyle Relay.
All four seniors on the Women's side won events in their final home meet of their career.
Kelsey Krumanocker took home the 200 IM with a 2:21.37 time.
Kiana Schumacher, with a 1:00.20 time, took home the 100 back.
Lauren Rutherford won the 50 free with a 23.42 and
Sarah Helfert won both of her events (500 Free, 1000 Free). Other Bears winners include
Kimberly Scheiber (100 Breast, 50 Breast),
Elizabeth Bowman (200 Free)
On the Men's side, Seniors
Spencer Ashby and
Jacob Queen both won two events in the final meet in Shuford Pool. Ashby took home the 50 Fly with a time of 23.49 and 50 freestyle with a 20.76 time. Queen had a time of 56.43 in his 100 Breast win and then a time of 1:43.95 in the 200 Free. Queen and Ashby also join forces with
Jacob Greene and
Micah McRea in the last event of the night in their victory in the 200 Freestyle Relay. Fellow Seniors
Alex Murphy (200 IM) and
Matthew Dewey (50 Breast) also took home a victory in their last home meet.
Other Men's winners include
Jacob Greene with victories in the 50 and 100 Backstroke.
Alex Ballard took home the 1000 Free with a time of 9:55.83.
Micah Grigg won the 500 Free with a 5:08.41 time and
Micah McRea had a 51.65 time in the 100 Fly.
John Ryan joined the team of Queen, Greene and McRea to help LR win the 200 Medley Relay with an impressive time of 1:34.60.
Both teams will now prepare for the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championship that will start on Thursday, February 18th in Charlotte, N.C.
