DANVILLE, KY - The Lenoir-Rhyne swim teams impressed this weekend at the Centre College Invite, with the men finishing fourth out of 11 teams and the women fifth out of 10.
"We had a tremendous meet!The team achieved over 90% of season-best times, several personal bests, less than a second from breaking 4 school records, two individual champions and invitational records, and numerous finals swims," stated Head Coach
Sean Weddell. "The team demonstrated true perseverance with some our best performances happening on the 3
rd day of competition. I am looking forward to the remainder of the season and to the accomplishments yet to happen."
Nabbing first place finishes were
Levi McRea and
Greg Kisshauer. McRea's time of 15:53.14 in the 1650-Yard Freestyle narrowly edged out Centre's Brady Miller, who finished in 15:53.81. Kisshauer dominated the 200-Yard Breaststroke, winning with a time of 2:01.54, over three seconds better than the next fastest competitor.
Leading the way for the women was
Ella Penny, who notched three individual top-five finishes. She was third in the 200-Yard Backstroke and 200-Yard Freestyle, and took fourth in the 100-Yard Backstroke. She joined
Anna Gagnon,
Devin Poteat, and
Ann-Cathrine Beissel on the 200-Yard Medley Relay team that finished third with a time of 1:49.68.
As a combined squad, the Bears notched 22 top-five finishes.
