Craig Corbett (Lenoir-Rhyne, 1981) was an outstanding two-sport athlete (football and baseball) for the Bears. In 1980, Corbett led the Bears in passing yards (1,317) and total offense (1,677) and set numerous single-season school marks when the year ended. His 429 yards of total offense against Liberty Baptist in 1980 still stands as the school record as well as his 89-yard touchdown pass to Steve Fleming against Elon. Corbett was the first-ever Lenoir-Rhyne quarterback to throw for over 300 yards in a game – 339 vs. Liberty Baptist in 1980 – and currently ranks ninth in passing yards (2,373) and touchdowns (21) and 10th in completions (163) on the Bears’ all-time lists. Corbett was a Team Captain and an All-South Atlantic Conference selection in 1980. On the diamond, Corbett was a four-year starter who became the school’s first-ever player drafted by Major League Baseball: the 10th round of the ’81 draft by the Montreal Expos. Corbett was an honorable mention All-District 26 selection in 1981 and led the squad in numerous offensive categories in 1980 including hits (34), doubles (eight), home runs (six) and RBI's (26). Corbett also led LR to a playoff berth in 1980. Corbett is currently working in District Sales for Pfizer and resides in Huntersville, N.C.
