Marvin Everett (Lenoir-Rhyne, 1974) was a four-year letterman for the L-R football team (1970-1973) and was one of the squad's best all-around players. Everett earned all-conference and all-district honors and was team captain in 1972 and led the team in tackles for three straight years (1971-1973). Â Everett also picked off 12 passes in his career and was named the team's defensive MVP in 1972. Â He played on the golf team for two seasons (1972 and 1973) and has been a member of the Piedmont Educational Foundation for over 25 years. Â Everett has been the Chairman or Co-Chairman of the Hanley H. Painter Bear Memorial Golf Tournament since 1994 and was the owner of Everett Chevrolet for 31 years (1974-2005). Â Marvin and his wife, Joan, have two daughters (Erika and Kirsten).
