    Men's Basketball, Coach
During his four-year collegiate playing career, Lentz rewrote several school records while being one of the top players in school basketball history.  During his career, L-R tallied a 79-42 record and captured the 1973-74 Carolinas Conference Championship.  Lentz, a three-time all-conference performer, was the league's most valuable player following his sophomore season.  Lentz led the team in assists for three seasons and still holds the school's all-time assist mark with 524.  His school record of 19 assists in a game still stands.  Lentz was a prolific offensive threat and is fifth on the all-time scoring with 1,755 points.  Lentz also served as Lenoir-Rhyne's Head Men's Basketball Coach for 29 years (1986-2015) and led the Bears to a 432-374 record (by far the program's winningest coach).   During his tenure, Lenoir-Rhyne captured eight South Atlantic Conference Regular Season Championships and four Food Lion SAC Tournament Titles and led the Bears to five trips to the NCAA Division II Playoffs.  In addition, Lentz was named South Atlantic Conference Coach Of The Year five times.  Lentz also coached Daniel Willis to All-American honors in 2000-01 while four of his players were named SAC Players Of The Year.  As a member of NAIA, Lentz coached the Bears to four consecutive trips to the playoffs (1990-93) and was named the District 26 Coach Of The Year in 1989-90.  The 1992-93 squad may have been Lentz’s best ever.  The Bears went 25-7 that season, won the league tournament and the NAIA District 26 Championship and advanced all the way to the NAIA Elite Eight in Kansas City, Mo.
