Mark LaMoreaux (Lenoir-Rhyne, 1968) (posthumous) was a four-year letterwinner for the L-R Men’s Basketball Team from 1965 to 1968.  LaMoreaux is only one of four players in school history to average a double-double (15.6 points and 11.2 rebounds) for his collegiate career.  LaMoreaux ranks sixth all-time in points scored (1,647), second in rebounds (1,179) and third in rebounding average on Lenoir-Rhyne’s all-time lists.  LaMoreaux was a captain and earned all-conference honors as a senior in 1967-68 before being drafted by the New Orleans Buccaneers of the ABA.  LaMoreaux coached high school men’s basketball for several years after graduation from Lenoir-Rhyne before becoming Head Men’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Director at Walsh University (Ohio), where he held the position for four years (1975-79).  LaMoreaux spent 15 years as Assistant Vice President for the Akron Brass Company (1979-94) in Wooster, Ohio, before retiring.  LaMoreaux is survived by his wife, Barbara, and four children:  Amy, Marcus, Andrew and Bethany.
