Lenoir-Rhyne University Athletics

Jim Garrett played four years for Lenoir-Rhyne football team from 1949 to 1952. He was selected to the All-North State Conference Team in 1951 and 1952 as a back and was a captain on the 1952 squad.  The '51 and '52 teams went 10-1 and 8-1, respectively, and Garrett played on four Bear squads whch combined to go 33-7 and won two league titles.  Garrett also played on the 1951 team which won the Pythian Bowl and was the squad's player of the year his final two seasons.  Garrett taught at Hickory High School until his death in 1983.
