Ed Miastkowski was a two-time all-conference basketball player who played on Lenoir-Rhyne's all-time winningest team. He, along with four other members off that 1962-63 team that finished with a 26-5 record, tallied over 1,000 career points.  His has a lifetime of 1,531 points and a career field goal percentage of .553, two of the school's best marks.  Miastkowski led LR in scoring during his junior and senior years, averaging close to 21 points an outing both years.  He was named by the NAIA as an honorable mention All-American in 1965.  With Miastkowski in a Bear uniform, Lenoir-Rhyne posted a four-year record of 77-34 (.694).  Miastkowski had a long teaching career in Wilmington, N.C., with the New Hanover County School System.  He has also hosted international exchange students from Japan and Germany and has served on the Wrightsville Beach Town Planning Board.
