Tommy Laurendine, a two-year letterwinner on the football team (1988-89) and a transfer from Appalachian State, was named South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Year both seasons. Laurendine, who holds the school records in career completion percentage (58.3) and single-season total offense (2,409 yards in 1989), led L-R to a share of the 1988 SAC Regular Season Title.  Laurendine finished with 4,064 yards passing and 29 touchdown passes and was inducted into the SAC Sports Hall of Fame in 2007.  He coached in college at West Alabama (1997-00), Southern Arkansas (2001-05), West Georgia (2006), Washington & Lee (2007), Lenoir-Rhyne (2008-09), The Citadel and the University of the South in Suwanee, Tenn.  Laurendine is a native of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and he and his wife, Shawna, have two daughters:  Alexa and Lakin.
